Mr Taylor, M.F., to a representative ol tins "i'tess." wlv* , brought under his notice a report in. circulation that Mr Taylor wus interested as a trustee in Mr Andrews's quarry, most of the stone from which, was alleged, wns sold to tho City Council. The iirst meeting oi the new City Council wiil he hold on Monday at ?-'K) p.m. The retiring Mayor, Mr C. Alli•son, will preside. Tlio installation of the mayor-elect, Mr T. E. Taylor, will take place on Wednesday evening. Yesterday, Mr T. E. Taylor, M.P., tho new Mayor, received, roughly, two hundred telegrams of congratulation. '■It is always like this," he said, "when a man who is widely popular or widely * unpopular, accomplishes anything."'
