Considerable interest was taken in the municipal elections. For the Mayoralty the result was:—John Kennedy 279. W. S. Masliu 209. bor tho Borough Council, tho successful candidates were:—W. A. Sherratt 268, E. O'Malley 257, Dr. Paterson 253, T. Sherratt 248, Dr Hislop 236, R. Taylor 234. The defeated candidates were J. Sutherland 232, E. Logan 161, G. A. Macdonald 80, and G. Broadhead 51.
