THE FINAL. (PKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, April 25. The Draughts Championship Tournament concluded to-night, when Penman defeated Hilliker, and secured the championship. Tho ballot brought out the Dundee opening, which allows of a lot of intricate, play. Penman developed a strong position, ' but tho poor defence put up by Hilliker «vm6 as a surprise, and disappointment to tho spectators. Towards tho finish of tho second game., Hilliker missed a chance of securing l a draw, and Penman won. thus winning tho championship with two wins and two draws. Penman wins the Australasian and New Zealand championship titles, £20, and a silver cup attached to the New Zealand title. Ho has won tho cup twice, and it becomes his property. Hilliker takes second prizo £12, and Brodie third £8. (srECUIi TO "the prkss.*') DUNEDIN, April 27.
