TO-DAY'S CLUB NEWS.

Friday, April 28th, 1911. The Club's proposition is really a simple enough one—it's just wholesaling direct to tho public in retail quan- j titles, but without the retail profits. | The public supports its own interests in supporting the Cub. It's a public i benefactor for it works all in the j public's favour. If tho wholesale houses were thrown open to the public, they'd be rushed, and the Wholesale Club's being rushed for just the same reason. People want to save money and they'll do it whenever they get a chance. To many the Club is not only a money-saver but an absolute necessity. Before the purchasing power of their money was scarcely sufficient to keep them'going. Now, they find it easily covers their requirements and wholesale nrices with a little over for tho "rainy day." While buying retail it was "raining" all the time. Members who've been shopping at the Club for some months declare they simply couldn't go back to the.high retail" nrices. iThere'd be terrible consternation in hundreds of Christchurch homes to-day if membership at the Club were denied them. But there's no fear of that—tho Club is here for the benefit of everybody. Anyone may become a member and buy everything they want wholesale. The membership fee of 10s ncr annum, or 5s for six months, and 3s for three months, is very modest indeed, compared with the big savings every member is bound to make whether ho buys much or little during his membership period. A lady from South Canterbury came in to the Club yesterday morning—just out of curiosity. While there she saw a sideboard marked at £•">. just like one she'd seen un the street for £6 10s. She had nreviously decided in her own mind to buy the one at £G 10s, but .she was quick to act. She made straight for the office, got a 3s quarterly member's ticket, went back and ordered the sideboard to lw sent South. Then she took a walk round the other departments, bought somedress goods, china ware, curtains and a few other things, and saved over £3 on her day's shopping. What's 3s membership fee compared to £3 saving. A selection of lamp chimneys of all sizes has just l>eon opened up at the Club ; also the most convenient thing in hand lamps, selling at 101 d each. There's money to be saved for housewives by buying their enamelware wholesale. A bin shipment of these goods is just marked oft' at'the Club. Prices are very low. A line worth seeing is the plain coloured enamelled candlesticks at 8d each. Did you know that yon could get aluminium stewpons in the best quality for as low as Is 3d? You can if you buy them wholesale at the Club. The Manchester department has always iot solid savings on cvery-day lines to present, but just now it's got something very special in the way of table damask values to offer. Bleached Damasks that yon pay Is 9d, 2s 3d, and 2s Oxl for retail, are procurable here at Is 'Ad. Is 6d, and Is Bjd yd. Unbleached Damasks are offered at Hid, Is 2*d, Is 6d, and Is "d yd, instead of Is 3d, Is 7d-, Is lid, and 2s 3d retail. Those remnants in the dress department are a snip for anyone wanting dress lengths, blouse lengths, or stuffs for children's dresses. They can't last to-day and to-morrow at the rato they're going. Be wise and see them soon. Every colour and fabric, is represented here at bargain prices for lengths at from 2 to 6 yards. No wonder the Club has as many men members as women members. It's so unusual for men to b© able to save money like they do at the Club; they don't even get the periodical bargain sales at the retail stores like the women do, and they appreciate the bargains they get every day at the Club all tho more in consequence. Look at what men can save on their suits alone by belonging to the Club. A ready-mado suit be saves at least 10s on, and on made-to-order suits anything from £1 to £2. The Club's special line of heavy worsted" suits mado in the latest style, perfectly cut as retailed at 65s or's7s 6d. ceQa __ mJ
