THEATRE ROYAL

"The Waltz Dream," after a most successful run, was repeated for the last time by tho Williamson Musical Comedy Company at the Theatre Royal last night, and attracted another crowded house. To-night "A Knight for a Day" will be presented. The play is full of sparkling wit and merry jest, and the entertainment runs merrily in a procession of delightful stage scenes from start to finish. Its accessories, colouring, mounting, ballads, and ballets, and parade of picturesque incident are said to be excellent in every respect, and the costuming is especially noteworthy. Miss Lottie Sargent and Mr Bert Gilbert are happily placed as Tilly Day and Jeremy Joy respectively. The cast also includes Miss Olive Godwin, Miss Ivy Freshman, Miss Stella Selbourne, Mr Herbert Clayton, Mr W. S. Percy, MiFrank Greene, Mr Victor Prince, Mr Charles Albert, and Mr Arthur Lissant. There are a great number of introduced items, and it is claimed that **A Knight for a Day" is one of the most amusing farce comedies that has ever been introduced to a Xew Zealand audience. fcller'sTpictures. The new programmo of Fuller's Pictures presented at the Colosseum last night contains an up-to-date selection ol gi.K)d films. The large building was crowded, and the patrons were most appreciative. Scenic studies figured prominently on the programme, one ■■film depicting the magnificent scenery to be witnessed in the mountain ranges of New Zealand. Another attractive scenic study represented the various winter sports carried on in St. Moritz. Comic subjects also formed a strong feature of the evening's entertainment, and the French comedy, *'A Tale of a Hat," was a gem in its way. Other amusing films were "Tweedledum as a Policeman," "Tho Baby's Shirt," "Captain Barnacle's Chnperone," and "Cock-a-doodle-doo." Of the dramatic subjects, "An Exile's Love," and -Winning Back His Love" may be mentioned as first-class films in this particular department. An enjoyable programme of music was played by the Colosseum orchestra during the evening. To-night the programme will be repeated. WEST-HAYWAKD PICTURES. There was another crowded house at His Majesty's Theatro last niglit, when the West Picture programme was repeated. The pictorial entertainment provided was much appreciated, and applause was frequent. To-night tho same pictures will bo shown. OPERA HOUSE. Fuller's Vaudeville . Company appeared again at the Opera House last night, and repeated the current week's programme most successfully. To,night the same entertainment will be given, and on Monday night a complete change will bo made. SYDENHAM~PICTURES. Another huge audience assembled at the Sydenham Empire last night, and "A Home Melody" with special vocal effects, and a programme full of interesting pictures were shown. The biweekly change of pictures will bo screened to-day at the afternoon matinee and evening performances. The scenic subjects are, "Park of Caserta," "Cheddah Gorge," "Glimpses of Italy," etc. The dramatics will include. "A Child's -Faith," "Tho Lost. Trail,'' and "Stronger Sex." There will be some new comics, the star subjects being "His New Lid," "Sister-in-Law? and "Almighty Dollar." CHRISTCHURCH ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY. The Christchurch Orchestral Society will open the present season at the Theatre Royal on Monday, April 3rd, when a moat attractive programme will be presented. The principal numbers -will bo the overture.".Fidelia" (Beethoven), 'overture "Raymond" (Ambrose Thomas), the ballet mnsic from "Romeo and Juliet?' Beethoven's Symphony in C minor,- Widor's Serenade, and Elgar's Salut" d'Amour. Mrs John Eraser, of Oamaru (noo Miss Winnie Nixon), will be the vocalist. OLYMPIA RINK. Messrs Hayward's Picture Enterprises. Ltd.,. will ope,n the Olympia Rink this morning at 10 oclock, this •being thy first day-of roller skating this. year. Everything, possible has been done to study the .comfort of patrons, both in regard to ouality of floor and -■ other- arrangements. Tho tea rooms will he open at all sessions, and the Rink band, will play at this afternoon and evening sessions. ', "BLUE BIRD" RECITAL. Th.< "Blue Bird," ' Maeterlinck's charming drama of "The Unity, Divine-" ness, and. Immortality of Life." will be . recited and interpreted, by Mr Wilson Fritch at the Alexandra Hall on Tuesday evening. During the Tecital, Miss Rima Young, pianiste, will play:— "Wedding Day (Greig), "Traumerei" (Schumann), "Impromptu" (Chopin),. "Pilgrim's Chorus" (Wagner-Liszt). ORGAN RECITAL.
