THEATRE ROYAL

There was again a crowded house at the Theatre Royal last night, when "The Waltz Dream" was repeated by tlio Williamson Musical Comedy Company. To-night will be the last opportunity of seeing and hearing the piece. To-morrow evening tho third attraction of the New Comic Opera Company will be presented, ''A Knight for a Day," an American farce-comedy in two acts. The piece has been constructed for fun having as the keystone, laughter supreme" The cast that will expound the hilarities ot the new play will include Miss Olive Godwin, Miss l*ottie Sargent, Miss Ivy Freshman, Mi.is Stella Selbcurne, Mr Herbert Clayton, Mr Frank Greene. W. S. Percy, Victor Prince, Mr Charles Albert, and Bert Gilbert. This clever comedian will appeal" as Jeremy Joy, and it is said to ba one of his most amusiug characters, while Miss Lottie Sargent, as Tilly Day, is credited with an exceptionally fine low comedy performance. There are several fine musical number-, including a- clever burlesque introduced by Mr Gilbert and Mis'; Sargent. Tho spectacles are very brilliant, and the performance is said to be an excellent one. PICTURES. His Majesty's Theatre was again the centre of considerable activity last

night, when the present popular programme of West-Hayward Pictures was repeated. Tho subjects dealt with were all entertaining, some of the scenic studies being most magnificent. To-night the same films will bo screened. OPERA HOUSE. The vaudeville entertainment given by Fuller's Empire Company, at the Opera House last night, provided a powerful attraction, and the House was again crowded. The various turns were novel, and thc natrons were most appreciative. To-night the programme will be repeated. SYDENHAM PICTURES. I The Sydenham Empire Theatre was crowded last night, and .hundredswere unable to obtain admission. The occasion was a benefit performance in aid of an'orphan family of nine children residing in Sydenham, who are in sad need of financial help, and a large number of tickets were sold, and a .substantial sum will be handed to tho distressed family. An excellent programme was presented, and it proved ono of real interest throughout. The educational and scenic subjects were high-class numbers. Another cleverly arranged and l>eautifully coloured picture was 'A Collection of Postage Stamos." A special item was included in last night's programme, e-ntitlcd "A Homo Melody,'* a story full of natural incidents, and the appropriate vocal effects were most pleasing. Tho same programme will be shown to-night. FULLER'sTICTURES. The Colosseum was again crowded last.night, when tho Fuller Picture programme was repeated for the last time. To-night a new programme will bo submitted, the chief films being "Arms and the Woman," "Capt. Barnacle- Chaperone," "Winter Sports at St. Moritz," "A Tale of a Hat," "An Exile's Love," "The Mountain Passes of Now Zealand," also pictures representing King George V. opening Parliament. "EMERSON" RECITAL. At the Caledonian Hall to-night Mr Wilson Fritcn, the American orator, will lecture on "Emereoa: Self-Re-liance." OLYMPJA RINK. Roller Bkating will soon be in full swing again. Tlie 1911 season will open at Olympia to-morrow morning, when the customary four sessions will prevail. The morning (session will be primarily for the benefit of scholars, ioi u'hoin special rates have been fixed. The rink band will play in afternoon and evening. Concession cards for tho benefit of regular patrons will be available. CANTERBURY COLLEGE BAZAAR. To-day, at 3 p.m.. the students' bazaar will be opened to the publio in the Alexandra Hall. Tbo preparationhave boon carefully carried out. Lady at-ietants from College will have charge of the stalls, and the various side shows will bo under the: control of the men students. Many well-known local artists havo offered their services, and the entertainments, -which .will bo held at frequent intervals each evening, should be a special feature of the bazaar. Tho proceeds aro to be devoted to defraying tho expenses of sending a representative team to.Auckland to compete ia the annual inter-'Vareity tournament.
