ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held last night, tho president (Mr James Stevenson) being in tlie chair. Apologies for absence' were received from Sir George Cliilord, the vicepresident, and Mr A. W. Heaven, a member of tho committee.

The annual report stated that tho annual show had i>een held on the oth, 10th. and 11th November, and by its increased number oi' entries and larger attendance, prosed one of the most successful shows of the Association's history- The high quality of the stock and general exhibits had been a feature generally commented on. Ihe number of entries at the show had been 2151. against 2022 the previous year. During thc year wool and mutton competitions for Corri'v.hile and halfbred _heep had been initiated. The rams entered for these competitions would bs shorn after the next show. &nd the fleeces weighed and the wool rained in the gren.se by an expert. The shorn rams would be judged by a fat sheep judge, who would bo asked to _x the value" of the sheep from a mutton point of view. The ram .showing tiie greatest money value, carcase and wool taken into consideration, to be the winner. There were at present 110 life member- and 810 annual members of the Association. The annual ram fair had been held on Thursday and Friday. March 10th and 11th. the total number of entries being 50SS. j The horse parade had lxsen held on Wednesday, September 28th, the entries numbering -12. Permanent improvements carried out on the Show grounds- during the year had consisted of the laying down of drains at the lower end of the grounds, and the wiring in of the roof on the grand .stand to prevent birds from roosting! 011 the beams. The balance-sheet for the year ending Derember 3Lst, 1910. showed assets £13,43(5 3s od, liabilities £(5140 It. od, receipts £4237 15s. expenditure £4010 18., 8.1 (including £300 18s Od : written off for depreciation).
