UNION ROWING CLUB. j Thc Union Rowing Club "Lou'sson" four- j oared race was concluded last evening. Eight. crews faced tho starter, and keen racTa_ I was witnessed each evening by a large | number of spectators. The results are as J foilow: — I First heat—C. Jieachen, S. Marsh.!!, H. ! Layton. R. Mann (sir) beat F. G. Suther- j land, A. Osborne, L. Wise, H. "W. Dallison J (str), by two lengths. 1 Second heat—L. Duggan. F. G. Cror.in. F. j G. Clark. W. J. Burlev (str) beat H. Tarrant, L. W. Pither. _. C.- Hunt, W. O'Callaghan (str) by a length. Third heat—E. Masson, M. Gentles, A. Freeman, L. Pither (str) beat E. V. Smith, B. Forgie, W. O'Driscol], T. Booth (str), by half a length. Fourth heat—E. Adams, A. S. Dravton, G. Tasker, L. Hills (str) beat G. Mitchell, E. _mpson, F. Dyer, P.. Adams (str). after a hard race to Stantnore bridge. Semi-finnls—Mann beat Burlev—T*u'« was a great race all the way. After rounding j Cowlishaw's tho two crews were level, and a I hard finish saw Mann' 3 crew winners by half a length. Mills beat Pither—After an even start Pither lost ground through eteering wide at thc first bend. He rowed gamely to Cowlishaw's, getting on even terms, and after a neck nnd neck go to the bridge. Mills's crew forged ahead, and passed the post winners by a canvas. The final, between E. Mann and _. Mills, proved a keenly contested race. Soon after the start, No. 2 of Mann's crew slipped his slide, which caused the crow to lose ground. Recovering himself, the crew drew level again, and after a great finish Mann's crew won by a length. Tho winning crew consisted of the following:—C. Meachen, S. Marshall, n. Layton, R.
