ROAD BOARDS.
OXFORD. . i The Oxford Road Board met on Wednesday last. Present:—Mr D. Hawke (chairman), Messrs C. F. Bassett, A. Baxter, H. Campbell, and H. Smith. , The surveyor reported having called for tenders for fords on Woodstock and Perhams bush road. Itwas resolved to renew the appointment of the ranger and grant him a bonus of £5; to re- ; quest the constable to prevent drivers , of vehicles from obstructing the main j street on sale days by keeping to one line on side of road, and to shinftle . water race fords. Correspondence was , received from the District Health Offi- i cer re inspection of the district by the j North Canterbury Hospital and Cliarit- ! able Aid Board, without any additional expense to this Board. It was resolved to defer a decision on the matter. The Minister of Public Works wrote that the vote for the Ashley Gorge road was before the Cabinet for approval. The Department of Agriculture wrote re the amendment of the Noxious W cods Act. The following tenders were accepted: For contract 131, C. Johnson, £7 10s; contract 133, C. Johnson, 3s 2d per cubic yard; contract 134, C. Johnson, Is 9d per cubic yard, and contract 135., C. Johnson Is 7d ! per cubic, yard. There were no ( tenders for contract 132, and it was resolved to make things safe for the ; present, if practicable, if not, to do by day labour. As the authority for the j expenditure of the vote for the Ashley j Gorge road had not arrived, the ten- ' ders for that work were not opened, but will l>e held over until 9th inst. Aej counts amounting to £189 4s 8d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. |
