RIFLE SHOOTING.

THE TRENTHAM MEETING

(IRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS;) TREXTHAM. March 7. To-day has hardly been such a favourable day for shooting as yesterday. The mornir." :va all that could be desired, but in the afternoon a breeze sprang up which upset maty of the .hooters and spoilt promising* stores. The first match taken was the Otago Match of 900 yards. Threo possibles were secured—by Harrison (Rahotu). Cuthbertson ''luamarina), and T. Frank (Nelson). At the close of the match feveral of the top aggregates had altered their positions, while Frank was still leading. Hay had dropped to t-eventh place, having, only put up 42; Cuthbcifson went up to second place, Craw (Lintor.) next.

Iv the Hawko'a Bay Match, 1000 yards, a lot of the competitors broke up, the wind upsetting many scores. Frank put up 46 and retained his place in the aggregates. Cuthbertson could only get 32, which put him out of the running. When the mutch closed Frank had a clear lead of 11 points and 30 shots to fire to complete tbe championship. Hadley (Linwood) secured the Hawke's Bay Match with a fine shoot of 49. He got 4 for his sighter. which ho accepted, and never lost the bull's eye afterwards. Considering the tackiness of the "weather and the distance the 'hooting was very good. Sraaill (Kaitangfita), who was nreon-. tlio leaders nt the start of the day. failed to hit the target. A like result was shored by ucvcral others.
