SWIMMING.
United Press Association—By Electria Telegraph—Copyright. A RECORD EQUALLED. (Received March 7th, 10.60 a.m.) SYDNEY. March 7. For the Mile Swimming Championship of the State, Longurorth beat Wilks by 40 yards, in 24min 1 2-6 sec, which is a record for Australasia, and equal to the world's record. Wright, the only other starter, retired. LONDON, March 6. The Amateur Swimming Association is not sending a swimmer to Australia in 1911, owing to the Olympic Gamea taking place in 1912. The Association has authorised the secretary to negotiate for the visit of a swimmer in another year. Yesterday afternoon the Kaiapoi public school children held several swimming races in the public baths. The 50yds race was won by J. Beker, and tho 25yds by E. Forrest.
