Mr Justice Denniston left for the West Coast yesterday morning, and

will preside at the Supreme Court sittings* at Hokitika on the Oth inst. Air C. J. Reakes, Director of Live Stock and Meat Division, arrived in town yesterday, and left again for Wellington last evening. Colonel Smythe and Colonel R. Logan Vero passengers for the North by the Maori last night. "Dr. and Mrs Chesson (Rarotonga) arrived from AA'ellington by the Maori vesterdnv morning. Dr. Schumacher, of Lyttelton, who acted as surgeon of the Aorangi on her last vnvage to San Francisco, left last night by tbr* Maori for AVellington, where he wQI join the Maitai in a similar capacity. The Rev. AA*. L. Salter, of Tauranga, who has been acting pastor of the Ashburton Baptist Church for six weeks, was accorded a social on Monday night, on the eve of his departure for the North. The Rev. James Ings takes permanent charge of -the church on March 18th.

Among the passengers for Wellington by tho Maori last evening were Professor J. Garrow, the Rev. W. Blamires, Messrs G. Witty, M.P., A. Anderson, and B. M. Molineaux.
