NEW BRIGHTON GALA
A meeting of tho New Brighton Gala Committee was held on Tuesday to consider the question of fixing a date, and to make arrangements for carrying out the aquatic events abandoned owing to the rough weather on Thursday. January 19th. Mr C. H. Winnv presided. It was decided to hold the aquatic events on February 2nd, and that the Entertainment Committee should arrange with the Band for a promenade concert on tho Pier during the evenin _. It was arranged that the high dive and life-saviuu; events should take place at 6.30 p.m. It was also decided to illuminate the Pier to tbe best advantage and, if possible, to arrange for the Christchurch Gas Company to light tho Pier with gas. The secretary was instructed to inform the various "swimming clubs of the arrangements.
