WOODVILLE, December <• The first day's racing of the *ftoodville Jockcv Club's Summer Meeting was conducted in delightful weather. The attendance was very satisfactory. Amongst those present were the Hon. Jas. Carroll and several members of both Houses of Parliament. Twelve bookmakers took out licenses, ten inside and two outside. The sum of £6163 was passed through the totahsator. as against ±'6611 on the corresponding day last year - The racing was very interesting, there being large fields and several close liniehes. R*"* l " paraha was favourite for the Woodville Handicap, and the Seaton Delaval gelding won comfortably by a length from Woodhey. Results: —

MAIDEN PLATE, of 65 soya; sis furlongs —Midnight Sun 1, Allurement 2, Ahupai 3. Also started: Brown Trout, Onslow Park, Dogfish, Tetikura, Waikehau, Wee Rose, Lady Edna, Eva, Kurapotangi and Sir Knox. Won comfortably by a couple of lengths. Time, lmin 16 2-sth sec.
