WATERSIDE WORKERS' WAGES. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 7. Though tho conference between the steamship owners and the waterside workers' was pledged to secrecy over tho answers made to tho men's claims, it is known that so far as Sydney, Brisbane, and Tasmania are concerned their demands for higher wages have been allowed. With regard to ordinary cargo, the Federation is agreeable to increase thc rate to ls 3d an hour with ls 9d for overtime, but it cannot concede the increase in tho special rates which are demanded.
