ADDRESS BY BISHOP WILSON

An interesting address on missionary life in the Melanesian Islands was given by Bishop Wilson at the Melanesian garden party yesterday afternoon. "I am very sorry that the changes made have necessitated my giving up my work," said he by way of preface, "it is such an interesting life, a missionary has to turn his hand to anything there." His first duty, he continued, was as a priest, then he had to be a doctor, again a lawyer, an editor, a gardener—in fact, everything. Many interesting features of the work, anil many amusing incidents were related by his Lordship, who concluded his address by stating that there was a large scope for women's work in the archipelago. In fact, one of the best things that had ever happened he added, was tho bringing of single women to work in the islands.
