Bates'* weath.-r summary and forecast, issued at Wellington at 5 p.m. yesterday, were as follow:—The disturbance which last week brought copious rains in the northernmost psrts of the Dominion pewed eastward on Saturday night, with strong southerly winds, and left a Jieavy ewoll on the East Coast. Tho barometer roao in the for North, and remained steady elsewhere, but i* now falling everywhere. Present indications ore for northerly winde generally, moderate to strong, northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and increasing e ' s fT where. The barometer will probably fall everywhere, with warm and hazy weather, uneettled probably soon on the Weet Coast and southern districts of tho South Island.
