SECOND GRADE,

St. Albans had made 271 against Christ's College, to which the latter had replied with 90 for one wicket. On Saturday they increased their total to 298 (Jennings 89, Loudon 45, Bell 86, Harrison 33. Richards 24, White 20, Macfarlane 18, Bowden 10, Pinckney 10 not out). College won on the first inninss. Boys' High School, who had made 31 for four wickets in reply to Linwood's 298, on Saturday played a fine uphill game, and were not disposed of until they had made 267 (Guiney i. 40, Booth 16, Blackmore 46, Hickmott 64, Allardyce 18, Miller 25 not out, Paterson ii. 26). Linwood won on the first innines.

Riccarton A, with 186 for seven wickets to West Christchurch's 124, increased their total to 255 (Norman 49, Ballantyne 38). West Christchurch, in their second innings, made 209 (Piercy 60, Lyons 57, Hammond 13, Thompson 13 not out. Cox 10). Mackay and Macfarlane were the best bowlers. Riccarton went in, requiring 79 to win, and had 35 minutes to get them. They hit them off just on call of time (Clarkson 29, Ballantyne 13, Norman 17, Luttrell 10).

At Lancaster Park, East Christchurch, in reply to the Sydenham total of 395, scored 62 (Pegg 13, Hart 12). Arnold and McLennan took the wickete. Following on, East were all out again for 101 (Wyatt.4B, Twyneham 14, Dobbs 15). Arnold and McLennan again took the wickets. Sydenham thus won by an innings and 232 runs.

Sydenham B, batting first against Riccarton B, compiled 130 (Jaoobs 36 not out, Bellamy 19, Ayling 16, Graham 16, Windsor 15, Fraser 13). Riccarton made 47. Sydenham's second innings realised 143 (Hudson 54, Jaoobs 22, Graham 16, McClelland 10). Riccarton required 227 to win. Eight wickets were down with the total 28 shortj but the tail rose to the occasion, the side winning by two wickets and three runs (Paull 14, Smith 78, Williams 26, Caygili 36, Francis 13 not out, and Jones 18 not out). Smith, Williams, and Francis captured the wickets for the winners.
