SOUTH AFRICA.

THE DUKE OF CONN AUGHT ON THE FUTURE.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.

(Received December sth, 11.15 p.m.) DURBAN, December 5.

At the civic luncheon the Duko of Connaught expressed his deepest thanks for the splendid hospitality and unvarying kindness and consideration everywhere shown to his party. He was strongly convinced that the South African Union was a great work, well fashioned on sound and durable lines. If public men put aside things that did not matter, and used the Union for the purpose of making South Africa great and prosperous, they need have no apprehension.

When the Duke sailed for England thousands cheered him on the wharf, and the warshins saluted.

CAPETOWN, December 5

Mr Fisher and Mr Fowlds arrived at Capetown last evening, and sail by the Aeneas on the 19th.
