1 ord Tennyson was prevented by illness from actively participating in the elections. He sent a message earnestly begging ths Nonconformists of the Isle of Wight not to desert their fellowNonconformists in Ireland, but to vote against Home Rule, which would be the means of breaking up the Constitution and dismembering the Empire.
