SHIPPING NOTES.

The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.'c liner Tain Hi, from London, via way ports and Wel-lington,-is due here to-day to finish discharging. She has IGOO tons of cargo to land. 'Jlho vessel will loud at Lyttelton and Wellington only for London. She will Temain here until about the 20th inst., and will then go to Wellington to complete leading, sailing thence finally on tho 29th inst., for London, via the usual way ports. The Kaituna left Westport yesterday morning, and is due here to-night. The collier will coal H.M.S. Encounter on Monday. Tho Rakanoa left Greymouth at 11 p.m. on Thursday for Westport to complete loading , for Lyttelton. The vessel is duo hero late to-morrow night. Tho Wakatii is due back to-night from Kaikoura, and will sail apiin on Monday night for Kaikoura and Wellington. The Arapawa, arriving here from Wellington this morning, will sail to-night with cargo for Wellington, Wanganui, and Patea. Tho schooner Houto was towed out yesterday afternoon and set sail for Whangape, where eho will load timber for Brisbane Ttho Amelia Sims followed an hour later with a full load of produce for Wellington. It is possible she may return here in ballast to load another cargo for Wellington. Tho scow Kunice sailed five minutes later in ballast for Havelock to load timber for Lyttelton. There was a fresh poutherly wind blowing which should give all three vessels a Rood run. The Strathcly.de is to be docked at 4 a.m. this morning for survey and to have the blade of her broken rudder removed. She will be floated out again next week to wait for her new rudder. Captain J. A. H. Marciel, Superintendent of Mercantile Marine at Lyttelton. has advised the Secretary of Marine at Wellington that Captain Bushel!, master of the oil fishing launch Wairau, reports that one mile and a half to the aouth-eaat of the outside of the Routh-east end of the bank that was surveyed by the Tutanekai about two years ago, situated between the mouths of the Wiiiau and Conway rivers, he discovered on November 29th, a rocky patch about 200 to 300 yards in extent, "having around and close to it from 12 to 20 fathoms of water. Tho patch of rock is not more than 20 feet under water. The Storm has just completed her annual survey and overhaul in the Otago dock.
