SHIPPING NOTES.

Tho Kaitangata arrived yesterday afternoon from Greymouth with a cargo of coal and a quantity of timber. Sho will sail on Monday next for Timaru and Bluff to complete discharging. Tho Wootton arrived in tho 'Wnimakarin river yesterday with a load of timber from Greymouth. The signalman at Lyttelton Hca'ds reported that tho vessel stuck on a mud bank in the river. Tho WooUon is duo here to-morrow to load rails for Nydia Bay. Tho Arapawa, arriving from Wellington to-morrow, will load for Wellington, Wanganui and Patea, and will sail the. same day. The steamer Strathendrick, 4379 tons, has been loading a full cargo of case oil at Now York for the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary Ltd., for Now Zealand ports. She was to have sailed about Tuesday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. Tho New Zealand Government did not receive any tenders for the purchase of the i'.eamer Hinemoa. Captain M. Sillars has resumed command of tho Westport Coal Company's steamer Canopus, and Captain T. Gibbons is now on holiday _ leave.
