ORIGIN OF THE PAMPHLET.

PRINTED BY THE SOCiALIOPARTY. The Auckland correspondent of the "Otago Daily Times'' telegraphed as follows, on Wednesday:—ln the course of his characteristic tirade in Parliament yesterday, Mr T. E. Taylor insinuated that the Socialist pamphlet was prompted by the Opposition, and the Hon. R. McKenzie asked who paid for it. Those in the know recognise that the two members referred to were themselves ouite well aware tnat the Opposition had, nothing to do with tho publication, but it suited political capital purnoses to create other impressions, those who know Mr Massey will know how foreign to his clean straight■'oin«- nature anything like that pamphlet would be. It may not, however, be understood by people in otner centres that the Socialists in this city run a printing press, and that in their •ranks are some extremists whoso powers of invective know no curb, iuc pamphlet was printed by the Socialist party, and has been on sale m the Auckland streets for probably si year or so, and the men offering it for sale are all well-known members of the Socialist party. In the customary infill matorv street oratory of the Socialist leaders, "this pamphlet is quoted again and again, and it is well-known in Auckland that the Socialists are responsible for it. As far as one can observe, it has never had any circulation here except among the loafer crowds that congregate to hear the street orators, and out of the prominent Oppositionists here probably not a dozen have ever seen the publication. No one in Auckland who has been blessed with any common understanding has ever dreamed of associating the Opposition with the pamphlet, and it has never been regarded as anything out the usual example of the wretched stuff issued by the Socialist paper in bales.
