COLONIAL SUGAR, COMPANY, LTD.
SYDNEY, October 28. At the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, tho profit were shown as £196,71-1, to Avhich must lie added the balance of £'125,971. A dividend at tho rate of 5 per centum for the half-year was declared, leaving £ 170,080 to credit of tho profit and loss account. Tho report stated that the hurricane in Fiji had damaged the crops, but the Queensland crops Avert* exceeding tho estimate, and the prospects for the next year's crop wore satisfactory. The profits of the company's business in Fiji and New Zealand had been £70,000. 'The chairman announced that as the balance, after paying the dividend, Avas now in credit £150,000, tbey proposed to add this amount to the paid-up capital in the samo manner as Avas adopted in 1008. They also proposed to issue 7500 shares of £20 each, carrying a dividend from the Ist inst., such shares being offered to the shareholders in the proportion of one to every 19 held by them on November loth next, on which date the £150,000 would bo taken from the profit and losh and divided amongst the shareholders in proportion to thoir respective holdings. The report and resolutions dealing with the new shares Avere adopted.
The following cable has been received by Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Christchurch, from their London office, dated October 27th, 1910: —"Poor demand for frozen mutton, and prices are maintained with difficulty. Limited demand for frozen lamb. Prices are higher by id per lb sinr*e our last cable, owing to scarcity. The position of the frozen beef market is unchanged/
