BERTHING THE VESSEL.
Tho, two vessels swung apart after a momentary contact, and proceeded in company towards the harbour entrance. Som? time after, sailing towards the pier, a stiff breeze came along, and the tug -was again brought alongside, and this time made fast. Tho journey towards the berthing place was than continued, the tug taking the vessel along nicely. Rounding the breaikAvater, it was seen that the members the expedition Avho had previously arrived in Christchurch were gathered on the end to wave a welcome to their comrades. A feminine interest was Added to this little see.no by the presence of Mrs Evans (wife of Lieutenant Evans) and Mrs Wilson (wife of Dr. Wilson). Mr Ponting made his debut in New Zealand as a cinematograph expert, taking a moving picture of the I erra Nova and tug entering the inner harbour. The other members of the expedition there were Lieutenant Brace, Mr C. H. Meares, and Dr. SimpEon Mr J, J. Kinsey, the New Zealand representative of the expedition, -as abto present. There were numerous photographers and snapshotters m tne watch to immortalise the occasion in picture. The Terra Nova came round to tho breastwork, on which a large crowd of spectators had assembled.
