THE BUILDING PROGRAMMES.
Mr Alan Burgoyne, writiii2 in the "Navy League Annual," reckons that the British Dreadnoughts in March, 1913, will number 27 and the uerman 17. Germany and America together will have 2-3 Dreadnoughts, and Germany, Italy, and Austria 21.
Tho "Daily Telegraph" confirms the statement of tho naval correspondent of the "Daily News" that, in consequence of Great Britain commencing to arm her vessels with 13J-inch guns, ■while Germany had just commenced to arm hers "with 12-inch guns, Germany has not begun four Dreadnoughts which the programme proposed should be laid down this year. The probable delay in German construction will bo twelve months. Mr Asquith's statement of the strength of the two nations in capital ships must accordingly bo recast as. follows: —At the end of 1911 Great Britain will havo 16 and Germany 11. In April, 1912, Great Britain will have 20 and Germany 13. In April, 1913, Great Britain will have 25 and Germany 13.
The paper adds: "Germany, probably by April, 1914, will have completed 21 Dreadnoughts, and Great Britain will then have 25, in addition to those of next year's programme.
