Tho following aro the latest quotations for Government securities, with a comparison of those ruling last week :—

THE MONEY MARKET. Tho Bank rate is 5 per cent., as compared with 1 per cent, last week. Short loans 2£ per cent., as compared with 21 per cent, last week; three months bills 4g per cent., as compared with 3 9-16 per cent, last week; I'aiis 2J per cent., being tho samo as last week; Berlin -IJ per cent., as compared with 4 per cent, last week.

THE LONDON MARKETS

Wheat —Tho markets aro inactive, tending downwards on account ol easier American quotations and heavy worlds shipments. Chicago December wheat is quoted at 93jJ cents to 912 cents. There it, little enquiry for cargoes; 37s Gd is asked ior Australian October-November shipment, 37s 3d for Victorian October, 9d from all threo ports for Decem-ber-January wheat; 35s 9d is asked tor South Australia parcels afloat. There is a small demand tor Australian spot at 373 Gd to oSs 9d. New Zealand average 33s to 345, inferior 325, superior 34s Gel to 355.

Elour is dull and prices aro unchanged. Oats are quiet. New Gartons 17s Oα to 19s, Sparrowbills 17s to 18s <id;-La Plata October-November 13s 3d. Beans are easier. Old New Zealaiids 34s to 34s 6d.

At Bradford wool is quiet; 64's 28.$ a, super CO's 28d, common 27d; sßs 23a, £0s 20tl. 46's Hid, _o's M,\d. Merino is l.}d lower for future deliveries. Sheepskins.—Tho sales have concluded. Jlerin-os recovered slightly. At tho close, prices were, from par to a halfpenny below September sales, and crossbred a farthing to a halfpenny lower. LONDON, October 21. Salted 110s to 112s, unsalted 11.2s to Ills, and occasionally il6s. Secondaries are practically unsaleable at nomimilly 104s to 103s. The market closes weak, tending downwards. LONDON, October 20.
