DOYLESTON.
A preliminary meeting of tho Doylcston Athletic Sports Club was held in tho Public Library on Wednesday evening. Mr Kisseli presided over a fair attendance of members. Arrangements •were set on foot for the forthcoming Boxing Day sports. Correspondence was rent! from tho secretary of the Canterbury Centre cf the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association regarding tho proposal to secedo from tho main body and form a Canterbury Athcltic Union, which was calculated to conduce to tho better management of eperts in general. Mr H. O. Amos was appointed delegate to represent tho club at the first meeting, to be held at tho Pioneer Bicycle Club's rooms, Clvristchurch, on the 25th met., and to report at a future meeting, before deciding to affiliate. The secretary (Mr J. W. A. Walker, Southbridge) was instructed to get out subscription lists, and the hope was expressed at the meeting that the public would again extend its liberality towards enabling the management to provide a good
day's fiport, together with an adequate amount of prize money. From the interest being shown at tho outset it 's* likely that the meeting will be even more successful than its predecessors A voto of thanks to the chairman concluded tho meeting.
