Writs havo been issued against certain coal and shipping companies, charging them with breaches of the Australian Industries Act. The wits aro three in number;' tho first is against the Coal Vend and Shipping Combine, and the firms forming them, for alleged offences against the Anti-Trust Act in connection with their control of the interests in the trade in coal. The second is against the Coal Vend and the Union Steam Ship Company, New Zealand, in connection with the joint control of the coal trade between Newcastle, New Zealand, and Tasmania, and in connection with shipping between New Zealand and Tasmania. The third writ is against the Coal Vend in connection with .p-ersons in London and elsewhere, and their control of tho foreign coal trade.

The suits are brought in the HighCourt. The writs are returnable in from fourteen to twenty-eight days. The Huddart-Parkor Company is among the defendants named in the first writ.
