Tho Hindu demonstration i»t Calcutta Lo the memory of the late King idw. rd concluded with the .sumptuous feeding of 20,000 poor, who ivero seated in two rows extending for a mile along either side of tho streets. A gift of n piece of cloth was made tc- each. The Maharajah of Durbhauga presided, and tho 2000 spectators present included the Chief Justice and prominent English residents. The poor, before dispersing, gave cheers for the British Sovereignty.
