The Prime Minister proceeds to Wel(ißgtoii on Saturday night, and returns v jlonday's boat to Christchurch to bo present at his Excellency the Goverior'e levee on Tuesday.
Messrs W. 0. Rutherford (Montrose), P. W. Eiby (Timaru). J. 0. Coop (Little River), G. L. Rutherford (W__ari), D. Bailey (Wic-ingham), H. ■t. Little (Hawarden), and Edgar Jones (ifount • Nessing), arrived in Christchurch yesterday. . HrK. Tait, Assistant Postmaster at Ckrisfchurch, 'is retiring on pension, and will be succeeded by Mr H. Kisdli Assistant Inspector of Post, Offices /or Canterbury. At a meeting of the Irwell School Cdmmittee, Miss Beatrice Gates, of iSbutibridge, was recommended for appointment to the position of mistress. The Wanganui Collego Board of Trustees has appointed Mr W, H. Swanger, of the Wanganui Education Board secretarial stan, to the position of secretary. There were thirty applicants from all parts of tho Dominion.
