THE AMERICAN WHEAT CROP

Figures presented l>y tlic April crop ! report or the Federal Bureau of Statistics (says the "Chicago Farmers' Revieiv") indicate a decided shrinkage in vij!U>r wheat prospects. The condition of the growing crop is estimated at 80.8, compared with 95.8 last December and 82.2 a year ago. The t<-n year average for April Ist is 86.6. ~Tne gieatest losses are in Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri, a decrease of 28 to 32 points being registered for those States.

Conditions are about normal, in sections ea&tof the Mississippi. .The report takes no aceonnt of the acreage abandoned as the result of poor condition. The crop indicated by the figures is 473 million bushels, compared with a promise of 424 million bushels a year ago ami a final yield estimated at 446 million bushels. This yield estimate suggests the expected increase in winter wheat acreage. Winter losses will probnoly reduce this acreage considerably, but how much can only be estimated from later reports. "While the trade received the. news as bearish the break in prices is not likely to interfere seriously with frture quotations. KAXGIORA. There was a good attendance at the market yesterday.
