SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The adjourned meeting of the Sydenham School Committee was held on Thursday evening, all the members being present. The headmaster's report showed that the school's roll number was 1161 (including 445 in tho infant department). , The average attendance wus 1027, and the highest attendance 1058. Thp accommodation for pupils in the actual class-rooms of the school, oh the recognised allowance of 10 square feet, of floor space for each child, was 1199. Messrs Marks, Joyce, Whiting, and Young were appointed a sub-committee to enlist the services of local members of Parliament in obtaining new school accommodation in the southern part of the Sydenham district. In the abseuce of any official intimation from the Board of Edncation it was decided that no action could be taken on the newspaper report of the Board's intention to alienatp the brick building from the school, contingent on the new school accommodation being provided. I* xvas, however, resolves', that tho Board be requested to take no action in tho matter without the com-* mittee first being given an opportunity to express its opinion.
