Count Jaqucs De Lesseps, grandson of tlafe Suez Canel engineer, on a Bleriot monoplane, ascended at Calais to a height of 280 feet. He circled about, in order to feel his way, and then soared abovo a thick mist, steering by tho sun. He then skimmed .down near Dover with [ t'Orfect caeo from over 100 feet, and J descended gracefully at Saint- Mar- ! garot's Bny. .. The journey occupied thirty minutes. The weather was hazy, nnd tho Count only saw tho coast on rearing Deal. Tho destroyer" Escopotte, following, only caught one glimpse of Dβ Lesseps in crossing.
