(Before Mr H. "\V. Bishon, S.M.) DRUXKEXXESS. One first offender for drunkenness was fined -5s and costs, in default 2-1 .'tours' imprisonment. Christina Lawson, a statutory first offender, was fined lib and costs, in default 48 hours' imirisonment. THEFT. Minnie Bryant stated that the accused and another drove xih to a section in Victoria street*, near I'nwin's store. Tho accused went into the section, and when he returne<l he had a quantity of lead under his coat, which he put into the cart, and they (.rove away. Josenh' Baldwin said he followed tho accused and overtook him. He asked him about the lead, and accused said to would nut it back where he took it from. The lead was ijnmediatelv returned by accused. He admitted to witness that he had taken the lead Accused stated that he purchased the end irom a boy whose name lie did not k".::n-. ( The' Magistrate said he did not believ.- the accused's statement, and he sentenced the man to three months' im:<n~onment.
