Tho Full Court, dealing with a- caso in which a cheque in payment of a company dividend had been stolen when passing through the-post, and cashed, held that the forwarding of a dividend through tho post was not payment within the meaninc of the Act. DEPARTURE OF ARNST. ' (Received May -Bth, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 18. Arnst, accompanied by his brother and Harry Floyd, sailed by the Medic for South Africa. A largo gathering of the rowing fraternity saw the party off. Arnst took three boats built by Towns with him. A CENTENARIAN. A man named Perfect died at Coota.mundra, aged 109.. Ho had lived, under six Sovereigns. A CANADIAN MEMORIAL! MELBOURNE. May 18. The Federal Government has subscribed £100 towards tho memorial to be erected at Halifax to mark the centenary of Constitutional Government in Canada, THE PREMIERS' CONFERENCE. Mr Fisher is to attend the Premiers' Conference on June 17th.
