Morris was voted to the <thairj& In its annual report the retiring committee stated that ;at the end of the last quarter of the ye&r there were on the echool roll . 7(J3 primary scholars and 180 secondary.scholars, a total of 883, and the average attendance had been 812, an increase of 35 on the average attendance of tho last quarter of the previous year. The reports of tho inspectors had shown that the school had done excellent work, and had testified to the thoroughness of the teaching in both departments, in sjrite of numerous changes in the staff during the year. In the public examinations, pupils of the school had been rcost successful, among the honours gained being two School of Art exhibitions for girls, and one pupil had beaded the list of candidates for junior rational scholarships. The balanceeheet showed that the receipts had been £219 18s, including a balance brought forward of £39 6e. and the expenditure £206 Is lid, in addition to -which accounts amounting to £14; Is lid had been paid since the books had Deen audited, leaving* a debit balance of 5s lOd.

In moving the adoption of .the report and balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the action of the Department of Education in discontinuing the T>avxnent of the M cavitation, the resalt of which had been that for the first time in the i»st fourteen years tho balance-, eheet showed a debit balance. Barrel!, G. G. Chisnall. C. D. Morris, A. Hay, and Dr. Chilton. The new committee met and re-elected Mr Morris to the position of chairman, and Mr A. I. Farrow was re-appointed secretary and treasurer. It was agreed to meet on the evening of the second Wednesday in each mouth.
