MR J. E. BAKER
The announcement of the death of Mr J. E. Baiter, of the well-known firm of Messrs Baker Bros., land, and estate agents, will- 'be. received with much regret by his large circle of friends. Tho late 'Mr Baker was a native of New Zealand, and had been in the land agency business fox about 33 years. Previous to taking up his residence in Christ-church somo thirteen years ago he Hved for many years in Wellington. He was an active member of the Trinity Congreigational Church, and was secretary of the Canterbury branch of tho London Missionary Society, in which organisation he took a very deep interest. His death occurred somewhat suddenly at Hanmer, where he had been spending two or three weeks, in the hope that ho might recuperate his health, as he was suffering from nervous prostration and heart affection. The deceased, who was about 53 years of age, leaves a widow end seven children—tire© boys oad four , girls.
