THE DOMINION SCOUTS.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 15. Acting-Captain Dalrymple and his Dominion Scouts left Palmerston tor •Wellington by train at 5 o'clock this evening. * They did not act unaer police instructions while here, nor were their movements known to the police. The" Scouts were somewhat disgusted with the coolness with which they had been received here., Tbo most censorious references to the Scouts, however, appeared in the Wellington papers, and ft is suggested that the pungency of these might have been, inspired by. tho recent incidents at the Kitchener camp, in which Captain Dalrymple and Lieut. Houston and which were the subject of a subsequent; enquiry. Captain Dalrymple, when seen by a "Post" reporter on Saturday, denied absolutely three statements made about the Dominion Scouts and himself. The statements were:—l. That the men worked in uniform.' 2. That they did not act under police instructions. .-.3. That the pungency of references in the Wellington papers "might have been inspired by the receut incidents at the Kitchener ..camp, in which Captam Dalrymple and Lieutenant Houston figured, and which were the subject of a subsequent enquiry." - To these statements Captain Dalrymple replied:—l. The men did not work in uniform . 2.. The Scouts did act under police instruction. 3. Captain Dalrymple was never in the Kitchener camp at all.
