STRIKE OF SLAUGHTERMEN.
BRISBANE, April 16. The butchers employed at -he Queensland Meat Co.'s Redbank freezing works and at Birt and Co.'s freezing work* have gone out on strike. The trouble arose over the demand of the Federated Meat Workers' Union for a new wages log. The Wages Board recently gave the men an ncrease of 20 per cent., and it is stated tha the Union demands a further increase of about 30 per cent. Several hundred men are out, and it is feared that the trouble may spread.
