A case of a man's volubility getting him into serious trouble came to light at the Quarter Sessions at Sydney last week, when John Quinn, who had on December 21st been sentenced to six n.ontus' imprisonment on a charge of vagrancy, appealed against his conviction, and "produced evidence to prove that he was in employment at the time of his arrest, and for some months previous to it. During his evidence Quinn kept up a running fire oi comment upon the enormity of the action of the police in his case, so that Judge Murray h-d difficulty in properly understanding thc witness. his Honour expressed thc opinion that if Quinn h;ul produced the evidence beforo tiio lower Court and had talked less himself he might not have been convicted. "[ don't c;ire," said Quinn, banging hii fist on the front of the dock, ''to long as I get justice." His Honour proceeded to say he would qur.r.h the conviction, wh'.-ii Quinn interrupted with the demand "I want reasons."
