Tho next mail from the United Kingdom is due in Christchurch on December 28th, vi»Brindisi, as follows:—Letter portion 9 a.m., via Auckland; newspaper portion at 5.30 p.m., via Bluff. Tbo next mail for the Chatham Islands will leave Christchurch, per Ripple, en 31st inst., at 3 p.m. Mails for the United - Kingdom, etc., despatched from Christchurch on 11th November, arrived in London on 19th inst., due date. . The next mail for the United States. Canada, etc., will leave Christchurch on 3ra January, via San Fr.-.ncisco. CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. Christmas Day.—A close holiday will be observed at all Post Offices. Mails for despatch on tho 25th inst. will close at 8 P-m. on the 24th inst. 80. ng Day, December 27th.—Post Offices will be open in all branches, except the Money Order and Savings Bank department, frem 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the usual despatch «f mails will be made up to 8 a.m New Year's Day, January Ist.—A close holiday will be observed at all Post Offices. Mails for despatch on January Ist will close at 8 p.m. on December 31st. On evenings of 24th and 81st inst. a delivery of all correspondence will be made over the Chief Post Office counter between 8.15 p.m. and 9.15 p.m. Only one delivery by letter-car-riers will be made on December 27th.
