TRAP ACCIDENT.

MRS PICKEN, OF WEMiINGTON KILLED. ' (PWEM ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) FEILDING, Deoember 22. A fatal aocKUmt occurred' at Apiti this afternoon, when Mrs Picken, wife of Professor Picken, of Victoria College,: Wellington, was killed. Mis Gregoiy (wife of Dr. Gregory), and her child, with Mrs Picken.; were returning fronr the lake in a gig, -rrhen the horse shied. The hub of one of the wheels stump, and the -occupants were thrown out on the metalled road Mrs Pioken sustained such injuries to her head that she died almost immediately.- Mrs Gregory and the childi were severely bruised and shaken. Professor Pioken and his family, recently arrived from Wellington, with the intention of spending three months' holiday at Apiti. WELLINGTON. December 22. Mrs Picken, who was killed at Apiti to-day, was a native of Glasgow. She was a Miss Climie, and was less than thirty yeans of age. She leaves a child not a year old. Mrs Picken's mother (Mrs Climie) was recently visiting her daughter and son-in-law, and arrived baok in London a week ago. The deceased was a-graduate of Glasgow University, where she -was a student of Professor Rarikine Brown now of Victoria College. Mrs Pioken was very popular among the students of Victoria College, where her husband is Professor of Mathematics.
