It is announced to-day that the Government have decided to grant £135,000 toward the cost of constructing the additional piece of necessary railway from Collooney, in County Sligo, to Blaeksod Bay, in County Mayo, on the -west coast of Ireland. The distance from London to Blaeksod Bay—ssl miles —will be covered in fourteen hours. From Blaeksod Bay to Halifax, in Canada, the journey will last but three and a half days. Th? construction of the Irish railway is an important link in the proposed All-Red route, and" with this decision on the .r/art of the Government the early opening of the new route seems almost assured. Once it is opened the approximate time-table for the journey to Australia and . New Zealand will be:— Leave London, say, December let, β-t 7 p.m. * Arrive Blacksod, December 2nd, 9 a.m., leave 10 a.m. Arrive Halifax December sth, 6 to 3 p.m., leave 10 p.m. Arrive Vancouver December 9th, 10 p.m., leave midnight.
