The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's chartered steamer Waitemata is due at Lyttelton on Wednesday or Thursday from Nelson. After loading wool and other cargo the vessel goes on to Auckland to complete loading for London. The Whits Star liner Athenic returned yesterday from Napier, and berthed at No. 7 wharf io resume loading. The vessel will leave hero on Thursday for Wellington to fill up, and will sail thenco on the 30th met. for London, via Monte Video, Rio de Janeiro, Tenerifie, and Plymouth. Mr R. Ryall, chief officer of the WinimeTa, ■who has been in the service of the HuddartParker Compeny for the past eight years, has left to take up a shore- position at Auckland. The other officers have each been promoted a etep. Mr A. J. Nichol being acting chief, Mr J. E. Warwick second, and Mr J. Devlin third. Tho Wootton left Foxton, at midnight on Saturday for Puponga, to load coal for LytteMon. She ie due here to-morrow. The llaoriland Company's steamer Knnerdale arrived at Timaru yesterday, from Edithburg, via Hobnrt. The vessel has a cargo of salt for discharge at Timaru and Wellington. The Karaoifa is to leave Grcymouth to-day witn a load of coal for Timaru and Dunedin, and on arrival at the latter port will be laid up until after the holidays. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Ktcamer Kaipara sailed on Saturday evening for Waitara and Wanganui, and celled at Wellington Heads yesterday to take on a party of stevedores io work cargo at those ports. She will afterwards complete loading at Picton. Wellington, and -Auckland, and will leave the last mentioned port for London on January 13th. The Koromiko arrived early yesterday moraine with a cargo of coal from Westport.. She will discharge part cargo here, nnd will ro on to Timaru with the balance. During last month twenty-one steamers end two eailintr vessels, of nn aggregate tonnoge of 25,650 tons, visited the port .of Timaru.
