THE WEATHER AND THE CROPS.
In the North Canterbury district &*&*.> progress of the grain crops, as regsrOing wheat, are very satisfactory- *""' - j£ oat crops look well, out in some stances rust has appeared. The crops are in fine order. Pea, bean, W»;f.'l potato crops are in a flourishing dition. Turnips require more rain. W/i, s the hay fields some very fine croj* early clover and meadow hay have oeeo secured. The garden small fruits ha** f-f been a good crop, and the cherries we» a a fair crop where protected *»"-/ c 4, birch. The latter seem to be dominant than ever, and have t««* heavy toll from early crops, S" 0 peas, and currants, and not growing in the onen has escaped w 1 ;-'!.
