CASUALTIES.
(PBESB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) DUNEDIN, December 18. ' Owing to the magnetic brakes failing to act, two tramoars proceeding south, in close proximity, collided. Both were badly damaged. A motorman, who was much cut by the broken glass, was the only one to recfcive injury, though both cars were crowded with passengers. AUCKLAND, December 18. The -wife of J. W. Knight, who wae admitted to the hospital some time ago suffering from burns caused by her clothes catching fire, died yesterday. At the inquest, Dr. Thompson stated that Mrs Knight wa6 suffering from extensive burns on the right arm and side, and on Wednesday skin-grafting became absolutely necessary, end was successfully performed. Later, hemorrhage of the bowels set in, resulting in death, which was due primarily to burns. The jury returned a verdict accordingly, adding a rider that in their opinion the husband should have been informed of the intention to perform the operation. NELSON, December 19. Jlr E. F Burrell, an old resident of Tahuna, had an apoplectic seizure while drmng in the city yesterday, and fell out of his trap. He was deed when picked up.
