ORGAN RECITAL.

Appropriately, in view of the approaching festive season, the majority of the numbers on the programme of tho organ recital given on Saturday afternoon by Dr. Bradshaw, comprised Christmas music. •There was a very large attendance, evincing the pleasing fact that public interest in the organ recitals is growing. The overture and tho wellknown Pastoral Symphony from "Tho Messiah,"' -which formed' the opening items, were both finely played, the latter especially so. The nest number introduced a work which is new here, a chorus from Berlioz's "The Childhood of Christ." It was a lovely composition, full of tender and delicate melody, and was interpreted l most artistically. In '"The March of the Magi Kings," the effect of the double basses was excellently reproduced. The offertoire by Guilmant on two Christmas themes, the most prominent of which was the welKknown 'Adestes Fideles," alike from its associations and the artistic manner in which the number was played, evoked warm appreciation from the audience. "Rejoice Greatly," from "The Messiah,'* -wes an enjoyable number,

and the chorus from the same oratorio, • tor Into fs," was very fine ly interpreted. On* of the most noticeable numbers of the programme was "The Distant Storm " Lefevre-Web.v, c descriptive piece of hig-h merit. Ihe well-known sacred song by Gounod. •JNaxareth."' afforded an opportunity of hearing the fine baritone stop of the yox lumana. The item was very artisllv P-ayed and warmly applauoed. lne recitals will be resumed on February oth.
