SHIPPING NOTES.

The steam auxiliary scow Novelty left Dunedin on Friday for Keipara, via Lyttelton, and is due this morning. It is expected that the steamer . ';in Ogilvy will arrive at Lyttelton to-day 'rem Bunbury, West Australia, with a _rg> cf jarrah. A fog at Lyttelton Heads yesterday morning rendered it impossible for the' signalmen to report vessels arriving until they were just entering the Heads. Nino of the vessels were delayed. The Mararoa made a smart run from Wellington, and the Canopus arrived from Westport after a quick trip of 32 hours. Mr H. C. Mills joined the Kini as chief officer at Lyttelton on Fridnv in place of Mr W. D. Cameron, who went to Wellington for orders. The Government steamer Hinemoa took in stores on Saturday, and will sail early this morning, calling at Godlev Head and Akaroa Head on her way to the southern lighthouses and the Campbell .Islands, where she is to pick up some whalers. The Waikare will withdraw from the East Coast service on the 12th mat. to prepare for the West Coast Sounds excursions. Her running will bo taken by the Mokoia, which leave* Dunedin on the 14th inst. for Lyttelton, East Coast ports, and Auckland. Mr A. F. Lev.stam, who has been on holiday leave, has rejoined the Warrimoo as chief engineer, Mr J. Howarth, chief engineer of the Waitemata, is on h.lidav leave, and is being relieved by Mr ScCallum, of the Wairuna. . Captain H. S. Blackburne is accompanying the Government steamer Hinemoa on ncr trip to the southern lighthouses. Tho Wootton arrived at ilaiapoi at 10.30 a.m. yesterday.
