United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 6th, 1.15 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 5. Mr J. Pierpont Morgan has secured control of the Equitable Life Assurance Society, New York, with assets valued at ninety-four millions sterling. This is interpreted on Wall street as foreshadowing a gigantic merger of banking interests. Mr Morgan recently purchased the Guarantee Trust with a capital and rc-Ources totalling twenty millions sterling. Moderate American papers estimate the resources Mr Morgan now controls at 350 millions sterling.
